Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Authors Submission Ethics:

  • Only unpublished manuscripts should be submitted for consideration.
  • Submitted manuscripts must be the original work of the author/authors
  • The article should not have been submitted to another journal already or concurrently.
  • Any conflict of interest must be clearly stated and acknowledged.
  • All the data or statements used in the development of the manuscript must be properly acknowledged.
  • All errors discovered in the manuscript after submission must be swiftly communicated to the editor.

Article Preparation Guidelines

The journal publishes high-quality papers on theoretical developments and practical applications in engineering and engineering technology, physical and life sciences, industrial operations and building services, and computer and information technology in the form of original research papers, state-of-the-art reviews, and high-quality technical notes. The general journal component format is as follows:

  1. Abstract: This should contain only the motivation, aim of the study, materials, and methodology, results obtained, conclusions, and recommendations in brief. The abstract should not exceed 300 words. The study should have maximum of 8 keywords.
  2. Introduction: This should briefly describe why the study is important, considering previous situations and scenarios and some literatures on similar works or experiments, the types of materials used and other methodologies, a possible motivation for the research, and stating the gap filled by the study, etc. All literature considered must be duly acknowledged. It may contain subheadings if the need arises.
  3. Materials and Methods: This should explain the specification of the material used and the methods followed to achieve the purpose of the research. It may contain other subheadings if the need arises.
  4. Result and Discussion: This should display the findings of the research and an explanation of the results. This may be in two headings (i.e. results separate from discussion).
  5. Conclusions: This should give a general outcome of the result and discussions.
  6. Recommendation: This should include possible further studies to be conducted based on the shortcoming of the present research. This section is optional and it is not numbered.
  7. Acknowledgement: This should include appreciations made by the authors to funding bodies or organizations that helped or contributed towards the success of the study. This section is optional and not numbered.
  8. References: This should contain the list of all reviewed and acknowledged articles and manuscripts in the study. The citation of references in the text should be numbered consecutively starting from the beginning of the report using a square bracket with Arabic numerals. Such as for one reference [1], for two or three references not in sequences [1, 4], and three [1, 5, 7], for references in sequence it should be [2 – 4], and so on.

The general formats include:

  1. All manuscripts should be typed in Microsoft word (compatible with newer versions), A4size, in English language, double line spaced and 0 points before and after spacing, and submitted in a single column. Alternatively papers may be formatted as in the template downloaded in the journal website. The theme font should be in Arial Narrow and 7500 words maximum
  2. Margins should be 1.2 inches (3cm) left, 0.8 inches (2cm) top, bottom, and right.
  3. All headings from the Introduction to the Conclusion should be numbered sequentially using Arabic numerals 1., 2., 3., etc. and aligned left. Subheadings are numbered 1.1, 1.2, etc. If a subsection must be further divided, the numbers 1.1.1, 1.1.2, etc. are used and are flushed left in Italics.
  4. Figure captions should appear below the figure and centred and in sentence case. When referring to a figure in the body of the text, the abbreviation "Fig.” should be used followed by the number. Figures should be numbered in the order they appear in the text. Table captions should appear centred above the table and in sentence case. When referring to a table in the text, no abbreviation is used i.e. the word "Table" is used.
  5. Figures and tables should be clear and those that are extra-large should be in a single column. They should be numbered sequentially using Arabic numerals as they appear in the report.
